TUNAP Concepts for Promoting Renewable Energy

In addition to ingredients, packaging technology, and product application, TUNAP places great importance on reducing CO2 emissions within its own production process.

New Ideas for Heating and Electricity

In a comprehensive project, TUNAP explored the development of new concepts related to renewable energy.

The goal was to identify which areas of its facilities offer sustainable potential for decarbonization.

The study resulted in three options with recommendations for action.

Option one is a partially electrified energy supply (renewable electricity supply and air-to-water heat pump).

A fully electrified energy supply (renewable electricity supply, air-to-water heat pump, and electric chamber heating) is a second proposal.

The third option is an electricity- and biomass-based energy supply (renewable electricity supply, air-to-water heat pump, and steam generation using a wood pellet boiler).

Determination of Savings Potential

The savings potential ranges from 40% to 97%; the investment amount for all three approaches is in the mid-six-figure range.

The next step at our facility is a detailed evaluation of the results and an assessment of how we can best implement these findings for our Wolfratshausen site and the company as a whole. The implementation period is from 2026 to 2028.

The development of such viable ideas and technologies is supported by public funding. Our initiative meets the requirements for this support, and in this context, we would like to thank the State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development, and Energy in Munich, which approved funding for the study (reference number EK-2408-0002).
