TUNGREASE OMC2 plus Sets New Standards

With OMC2 technology, TUNAP has developed a specific additive combination for lubricants with a special micro-smoothing effect. The unique active complex of OMC2 technology - the pressure capacity strongly increases. Through this, the roughness of the components is not rubbed off, however they reform under the load - leading to a flow process in the micro area, whereby the friction losses and wear are significantly reduced. This additive technology is also known as PD (plastic deformation) and SE (surface engineering).

The Three Phases of OMC2 Mode of Action

The effect of OMC2 can be divided into the following three phases.

Initial Phase
1. Formation of a Surface Protection Layer:
OMC2 is immediately taken up by the metal surface when under pressure. A lubricant-effective film, which is resistant to shearing is formed.
Reaction Phase 2
2. Compression of the Surface Protection Layer:
The load capability increases under increasing pressure. Friction and wear are clearly reduced.
Reaction phase 3
3. OMC2 Development of Effect and Surface Smoothing:
With further increase in pressure, the OMC2 components migrate into the metal surface producing a special flow process, smoothing OMC2 effect. Simultaneously, special tribopolymers are generated. This results in a reduction of coefficient friction and wear.

30% Reduction in Terms of Coefficient Friction

On the model test bench SRV, this effect is clearly illustration on a model oil pursuant to DIN 51834-2. The use of TUNAP OMC2 technology provides an approx. 30% reduction in terms of co-efficient friction.

A lower coefficient friction through OMC2 technology enables a range of application advantages:

  • Lower energy consumption
  • Less heat development
  • Less wear

The User-Friendly & Inexpensive Solution

Many of the TUNAP high-performance lubricants contain this OMC2-additive technology. When compared with the use of customary lubricants, its use leads to improved surface quality and an increase in the contact surface. As a result of this, there is a more efficient distribution of load with friction contact and a significant reduction in the coefficient friction.

This enables a range of application advantages when compared with other customary additive technologies for the reduction of friction and wear:

  • saving energy and reduction in application temperature as a result of the very low friction co-efficient
  • lower maintenance costs through the minimised wear and reduced temperature development
  • reduced material, lubricant and disposal costs due to the extended grease consumption duration
  • higher level of machine availability due to less failures and downtime or repairs

TUNGREASE OMC2 plus

The TUNGREASE OMC2 plus technology optimises high performance requirements and represents the next generation of PD greases.

It combines this unique additive technology with an expressed temperature-resistant grease for specialist high performance requirements.

Among these, for example, are the long-term lubrication of small gearboxes or the lubrication of rolling or plain bearings that are in high demand under adverse operational conditions, such as extreme pressure, vibrations or high temperature loads.

Long-Lasting Small Gearbox Lubrication With TUNGREASE OMC2-2 plus

A comparison between various greases in the small gearbox lubrication of a battery-powered power tool under maximum load in continuous operation demonstrates the efficiency of the specialist OMC2-additive technology in combination with a high-quality grease matrix.

TUNGREASE OMC2-2 plus lasts, in many cases, longer than conventional products. When using them there is an immense maximum temperature where there is increased friction. As a result, this can lead to a fast grease failure with premature failure of the gearbox.

On the other hand, under these conditions TUNGREASE OMC2-2 plus displays its complete effect potential and ensures a reliable and efficient machine operation.

Efficient Rolling Bearing Lubrication

Even in rolling bearing lubrication the OMC2-additive technology exhibits its full effect potential. In a standard test procedure for the performance of lubricants on rolling bearing under practical conditions, TUNGREASE OMC2-2 plus displays a clearly lower degree of wear than other popular competitors. On the other hand, it also establishes an approx. 50% reduced average friction torque, as well as a signification save in energy both when starting and during the course of inertia when compared with other common products.
